Job Summary


The Supplier Management (SM) Key Account Supervisor I assists Supply Chain Solutions customers with managing purchase and sales orders and interacts with global customer locations (i.e., origins) to facilitate successful movement of goods into the U.S. market. This position interacts with customer decision-makers to provide global transportation business information and to ensure smooth transactions and compliance.


Responsibilities


  • Oversees the less than container load/full container load business and interacts with Customer Service Representatives to facilitate the movement of goods

  • Maintains contact with UPS international offices to update and communicate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensures operational requirements are met

  • Conducts customer meetings and business reviews to present and ensure understanding of data (e.g., cubic meters of goods, etc.), displays movement of goods into the U.S., and to verify customer needs

  • Interacts with UPS Business Development teams on industry trends and new technology to advise customers on opportunities for supply chain improvements

  • Identifies decision-makers in customer organizations (e.g., Sales, Order Processing, Merchandising, Logistics, Warehousing and Distribution, etc.) to develop relationships and an understanding of customer business structures

  • Manages booking and SOP exceptions to ensure customer approvals are obtained and system updates are submitted

  • Confirms rate request filings to ensure rates are available for moving cargo as booked and to meet customer shipping expectations

  • Coordinates system updates with Information Technology and clients to purge the system of cancelled purchase orders (POs) and to update missing and inaccurate PO information

  • Manages missing documents, shipping advisory pre-alert notices, delayed document notices, and corrective action plans to ensure origins follow procedures and fulfill CAP commitments

  • Manages urgent POs and sends notifications to origins to ensure expedited processing

  • Advises customers of changes in transportation costs affecting trade lanes to track the customer's freight market, assist with rate and cost negotiations by analyzing cost and routings rates, and to increase customer control

  • Provides customers with business analysis reports to support analytical assessments of shipping activities, review the status of shipments, and ensure vendor compliance

  • Performs customer business analyses to generate additional UPS business, integrate UPS services, and create efficiencies

  • Acts as a customer advocate to resolve pricing, service, and relationship issues and to prevent churn

  • Maintains knowledge of U.S. government compliance requirements to ensure customer compliance and to assist customers with origin communications

  • Supports customer training on international transportation, export, and import operations to increase knowledge of compliance and global transportation requirements

  • Reviews profit and loss information to ensure customer account revenue meets budgeted levels and business expectations

  • Distributes updated SOPs to internal UPS groups (e.g., Account Management teams, etc.) to ensure changes are communicated and posts SOPs on UPS web sites (e.g., Freight Gate, etc.) to provide timely access to information

  • Identifies cultural issues that may impact business needs or customer solutions; leverages cultural awareness to address challenges when operating across different geographical areas; stays current on global and cultural trends

  • Generates reports in appropriate format using basic software; reviews reports to ensure accuracy and identifies issues with report generation (e.g., missing variables, incorrect data, etc.)

  • Integrates a broad knowledge of supply chains within customer organizations to solve complex customer problems; develop strategies to meet the customer’s supply chain needs

  • Recognizes the basic impact of technology on UPS business, services, and processes; identifies technological barriers in achieving
    desired objectives; maintains appropriate breadth and depth of technological knowledge for current work assignment
