The Office of Occupational Health Environmental and Safety Services (OHESS) known as the NSA Medical Center, supports the mission by applying professional knowledge in Occupational Health, Environmental, Industrial Hygiene and Safety operating in accordance with all governing body regulations. NSA has an excellent opportunity available in our Occupational Health, Environmental, and Safety Services (OHESS) Department for a Registered Nurse. OHESS supports NSA by promoting, assessing, and optimizing the health and well-being of the workforce and workplace. OHESS strives to be the Intelligence Community's premiere provider of occupational health services, employee assistance programs, environmental and safety solutions, psychological assessments, and emergency management.
As a Registered Nurse at NSA, you will have the opportunity to work directly with patients, healthcare providers, psychologists, management, and other support services. You will provide direct patient care and education in an effort to promote employee health, prevent illness or injury, and protect employees from occupational or environmental hazards.
At NSA, you will have the opportunity to maximize your knowledge and skills in the following areas:
--Occupational exposures, assessments, surveillance, and regulations. Individualized employee assessments to identify any occupational hazards that may result in adverse health effects as well as health issues that may affect job functions. Educating employees on occupational exposures, their effects, and methods for prevention. Management of a medical surveillance program.
--On-the-job injury evaluation and care, acute illness triage, and emergency medical care and response, to include BLS services. First-line medical assessments of patients in a workplace clinic setting.
--Individual and population-level health education aimed at improving or maintaining overall health and well-being, individualized screening for specific diseases, and developing and using health risk assessment tools for identification of health strengths and opportunities in an employee population.
--Travel medicine assessments, to include evaluations of patients to determine fitness for travel, education regarding possible exposures and health risks, and administration of vaccinations and medications.Skills
-Conduct patient assessments, triage, and direct care in an acute care setting and via emergency response.
-Provide mission-specific medical evaluations and treatment through physical examinations and travel medicine consultations.
-Operate specialized medical equipment or instruments.
-Educate patients on health care topics, test or study results, and occupational exposures.
-Promote employee wellness through population-level health education and programs and one-on-one assessments.
-Communicate with multiple stakeholders, to include patients, healthcare providers, supervisors and management, and ancillary occupational services, ensuring the appropriate information and recommendations are shared while still respecting patient privacy and confidentiality.Mandatory Qualification Reqs
Salary Range: $68,036 - $106,012 (Full Performance)
*The qualifications listed are the minimum acceptable to be considered for the position. Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position.
Entry is with an Associate's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience.
Degree must be in Nursing. (Graduation from an accredited nursing diploma program would be viewed as equivalent to an associate's degree).
Relevant experience must be recent and in a general medical or surgical nursing area (e.g., ER, health promotion, occupational health, and ambulatory care). A current, valid, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse by any state or territory is required. Certification Occupational Health Nurse (COHN) is preferred.
-Triaging and prioritizing patients for treatment based on presenting signs and symptoms.
-Providing emergency medical services, such as first aid, CPR, and BLS-level care.
-Maintaining medical ethical standards and respecting patient privacy and confidentiality.
-Compiling, organizing, and assembling medical data to create a medical record or medical program.
-Maintaining medical records in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
-Knowledge of standard medical terminology.
-Operating standard medical equipment used for assessment and treatment personnel.
-Knowledge of occupational health and safety principles, regulations, standards, and policies.
-Providing individual and population-level health education.
