IST has an outstanding opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to assist in the experimental set up, configuration, and documentation of an R&D test laboratory. You will be involved with an altitude simulation environment related to avionic oxygen systems research, testing, and development.
Essential Job Functions:
In this role, you will:
Perform 3-D CAD design (SOLIDWORKS) of apparatus and layout configurations of laboratory instrumentation.
Assist with mechanical assembly (tubing and valving).
Assist with the development of the logistics items (database management of hardware & sensors, training aids such as check lists, etc.).
Assist with wiring and instrumentation setup.
Potentially assist with LabView.
Due to the sensitivity of customer related requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
At least a BS degree in Engineering or a related degree, with at least 2 years of related experience. (There are multiple levels associated with this opportunity category. Candidates with advanced degrees or varied levels of experience may be considered for alternative classification).

CAD skills and capabilities.
Understanding of the importance of high oxygen concentration safety practices.
Ability to follow schematic diagrams of mechanical systems.
Basic understanding of the safe use and function of small hand tools and power tools.
Working understanding of valves and pressure fittings assembly and selection thereof for gas and fluid systems.
Understanding of the basic operation of pneumatic and hydraulic system operations and related piping and valves.
Understanding of the fundamental safety aspects of industrial devices under pressure / vacuum and basic electrical safety.
Familiarity and basic proficiency with Windows operating system and MS Office applications.
Ability to work well in a team environment.

Research and Development (R&D) environment experience.
Experience with Microsoft Visio.
Good organizational and problem solving skills.
Experience with LSE (Life Support Equipment).
