Jr. Business Analyst

BCforward is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Analyst.


Purpose

Employee works for the Indiana Department of Environmental Management in Information Services. Employee helps provide support and administration for the agency's databases and information systems for new enterprise implementation projects and existing systems for the IDEM Modernization program. Position may serve as a liaison and interface between the IT and Program area teams. Primary responsibilities include soliciting business requirements and translating to technical system specificaitions.


Skills Requirements:

Required

Technical

Ø Prior BA experience (internship experience will sufficient if candidate has strong aptitude and desire to learn.)

Ø Prior requirements gathering and documentation experience required

Ø Prior process mapping experience required.

Ø Strong MS Office suite experience required.

Ø Advanced level skills with all MS Office products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project (preferred)

Ø Excellent verbal and written communication skills including interviewing, documentation as well as presenting to small and medium sized groups;

Ø Experience in soliciting, documenting, and testing requirements

Ø Experience in developing and executing test plans.

Ø Experience with business process mapping, as well as an understanding of the relationship between business processes, policies, and technology.

Ø Experience working on teams to delivering projects using prescribed methodologies;

Ø Understanding of modern systems and relational databases

Ø Understanding of data migration and conversion

Ø Understanding of systems integration

Ø Understanding of user experience, intuitive design, including the 'customer journey'

Ø Ability to execute test plans and experience with quality

Ø Ability to manage project activities using tools like Jira and SharePoint

Ø Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and a non-technical manner for business and technical concepts.

Interpersonal/Aptitude

Ø Reliable willingness to ask for assistance and help when needed;

Ø Understanding of discernment on matters of escalation and customer service;

Ø Demonstrated openness to coaching and mentoring from more experienced and senior team members;

Ø Ability to receive feedback and adjust style, behavior, and approach as needed;

Ø Strong ability to work in dynamic environment with a heavy customer service orientation;

Ø Ability to learn new systems quickly including new skills;

Ø Self-motivated with strong inherent research and troubleshooting skills as well as keen attention to detail;

Ø Strong ability to quickly transition between tasks and systems;

Preferred

Ø Ability to read both logical and physical data models;

Ø Understanding of project management skills and best practices;

Ø Understanding of CRM and ERP application systems;

Ø Knowledge of ERD development using UML preferred

Ø Project experience with ERP Database applications in a medium to large enterprise preferred.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Requirements Gathering

Ø Assist with providing project level analysis including producing required project analysis documentation (business requirements, scope matrix, use cases, sequence diagrams, future state proposals, UAT plan);

Ø Assist with eliciting and clearly documenting business and systems requirements;

Ø Interview business experts to elicit requirements using interviews, participating in requirements workshops, and business process documentation that describe use cases, scenarios, business analysis, task, and workflow analysis;

Ø Assist with critically reviewing, analyzing, and evaluating business systems as well as business requests and user needs to determine feasibility including distinguishing user requests from underlying exact needs;

Ø Assist in ensuring that any new software integration into company business system meets functional requirements, system compliance, and system specifications;

Ø Assist in defining business processes and how they interact with enterprise systems by researching, analyzing and documenting existing and future system using business requirements, workflow diagrams, and mockups.

Business Consulting and Process Improvement

Ø Assist with identifying, creating and facilitating process design changes by conducting business and systems process analysis and design leveraging existing documentation and customer/stakeholder input;

Ø Assist with quality improvement and data management by ensuring data is reliable and valid;

Ø Support integrating new systems and processes with existing ones;

Ø Work with internal and external customers to ensure new and modified systems provide meet customer needs;

Ø Assist in identifying improvement opportunities and contribute to ongoing process improvement activities;

Ø Support and align effort to meet customer and business needs;

Ø Assist in assessing business process and system inefficiencies;

Ø Ensure business systems and related projects meet ongoing corporate business objectives, and fulfill end-user requirements.

Project and Systems Support

Ø Provide and support systems and implementation projects by establishing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders;

Ø Collaborate closely with project managers, developers, and program staff to implement requirements, provide necessary support for testing during QA process

Ø Identify ways to increase adoption and customer satisfaction

Ø Assist in understand and negotiate needs and expectations of multiple stakeholders

Ø Serve as a liaison between Operations and IT to assist in gathering business requirements needed for system modifications, enhancement, and implementations
