Job Summary:
The role of the IT Engineer for Infrastructure is expected to provide technology services around the deployment, configuration, and support of Gavilon’s network and server infrastructure. This position is responsible for ensuring operational system stability and availability, while actively engaged on testing and deployment of evolving solutions. Partnering with architects on technology standards and roadmaps, the IT Engineer assists in effective solution delivery with a focus on efficiency and scalability, overseeing technology contributions from internal and external resources.
Essential Job Functions:
- Deploy, manage, maintain, and support the network and server infrastructure
- Install, manage, and support all core, supporting, and remote network hardware and services ensuring optimal performance and availability
- Including both on-premise and cloud connectivity, switching, routing, firewalls, SDWAN, and wireless technologies
- Maintain appropriate software levels and configurations as defined by standards
- Schedule and work with colleagues, remote site personnel, and partners for necessary network migrations, installs, upgrades, and changes
- Maintain and ensure proper creation and configuration of necessary monitor points within monitoring systems
- Ensure network deployments and changes align with approved security
- Partner with architects to evaluate trade-offs between in-house, vended and cloud-based solutions
- Ensure solutions are aligned with the technology roadmap and standards (technology, security, quality).
- Create process checklists, technical workflows, and other related operational documentation to assist the group and junior-level support staff.
- Design and implement automation for predictable, repeatable tasks
- Assist with 24/7/365 shared pager rotation, responding to and resolving production-down issues
- Analyze system performance and suggest/implement tuning as needed
Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:
- BS in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years experience supporting enterprise scale networks utilizing dynamic routing, firewalls, and SDWAN/VPN technologies
- In-depth networking knowledge to include switching, firewalls, routing, BGP, IPSEC VPN, MPLS, DNS, DHCP
- Network Hardware: Palo Alto, Cisco, Silver Peak, Cradlepoint, AWS, Azure
- Preference for breadth of IT domains, technologies and roles
- Windows Server management specifically roles such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, PKI, NPS
- Windows Server patching and maintenance
- Server virtualization by means of VMware
- Office 365
- On-prem, cloud, and hybrid infrastructures
- Citrix desktop virtualization and application delivery
- Working with remote locations and resources
- Ability to document and effectively communicate complex technical subject matter
- Experience designing, integrating, and managing complex technical solutions
- Leadership, negotiation, and consensus-building skills with other technical groups as well as the business
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High sense of urgency and flexibility in a fast-paced environment
- Strong prioritization and organization skills
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
