Firm Accountant

Applies generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) to establish the integrity of the underlying financial statements by providing accounting and financial support to Finance management through the preparation and analysis of journal entries, schedules and reconciliations. Areas of focus may include but are not limited to tax management, and financial system management. (This is a National office position only.)

Responsibilities:

  • Transactional duties may include but are not limited to:
    • Ensures accuracy and compliance with laws and standards by maintaining financial records through the preparation and review of journal entries
  • Reporting duties may include but are not limited to:
    • Prepare and analyze sales and use tax returns which involves the application of specialized sales and use tax knowledge
    • Prepare and analyze payroll tax returns which involves the application of specialized payroll tax knowledge
    • Prepare unemployment tax returns which involves the application of specialized unemployment tax knowledge
    • Apply for new and renew currently held business licenses for operations across the United States
    • Utilize various tax software to ensure accuracy and timeliness of tax filings
  • Analysis duties may include but are not limited to:
    • Analyzes account activity and determines reconciling journal entries based on discrepancies found by researching and interpreting general ledger data
    • Reviews and analyzes financial statements to ensure reconciliation to accounting systems and subsidiary ledger detail
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
    • Accounting, Finance or Business major preferred
  • Ability to communicate verbally and written
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work autonomously and part of a team
  • Effective organization and time management skills
  • High level of confidentiality
  • Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and the ability to use that knowledge to guide in decision making

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years relevant experience
  • Previous sales & use, withholding, and unemployment tax experience
  • PeopleSoft, Microsoft SQL, Vertex, MasterTax experience
