Director, Sales

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Director of Sales with a proven track record of success selling technology/services to Small & Medium Businesses. This leader must have strong B2B sales and management experience. We are looking for an exceptional leader who has previous experience building, transforming and managing a successful inside sales business unit. He/she will iterate and build upon our current sales strategy while providing definition and implementation of the plan to exceed sales objectives. The ideal candidate will have a proven understanding of selling disruptive, habit changing software into small and medium sized customers.


  • Ability to build a sales team and develop sales campaigns to successfully execute to revenue, budget, and P&L plan.

  • Day-to-day management of the sales team including responsibility for performance management, recruitment and professional development.

  • Drive rigorous sales development execution and oversight, and KPI management including forecasting and pipeline management.

  • Define sales process that drives desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when applicable.

  • Drive strategic planning, territory definition, quota and compensation construct.

  • Work cross-functionally with Customer Success, R&D, Marketing and other internal partners to grow pipeline, maturation strategies and execution plans for new geographies, products and market segments.

  • Build and conduct executive presentations for internal and external stakeholders, including the board of directors.

  • Represent CareerBuilder at industry conferences.

  • Develop a detailed knowledge of CareerBuilder's product offerings and drive adoption of knowledge and strategy execution to the sales team.

  • Design and develop sales materials, necessary for selling into Small and Medium sized businesses.

  • Partner with Finance and develop sales compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets.

  • Collaborate on and participate in sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives.

  • Manage customer expectations and contribute to a high level of customer satisfaction and renewal rates.

  • Hold reps and managers accountable to our sales processes.




  • 7+ years of business to business sales leadership experience.

  • Successful experience leading and developing a team of 50+ high activity inside sales executives in surpassing sales goals.

  • Possess strong leadership skills, and have shown the ability to successfully recruit, coach, and retain high quality sales representatives and managers.

  • Able to think strategically, creatively, independently and have strong success track record in past sales experience.

  • Assertive and confident with ability to motivate team and inspire passion around company and products.

  • Robust Salesforce analysis, reporting, and forecasting skillset.

  • Demonstrated experience with data management and analysis.

  • A personal drive to "getting it done and doing it right" and the ability to make effective decisions and see them through.

  • Proven consultative sales skills with the ability to articulate a clear, concise value proposition, benefits and return on investment.

  • Ability to identify sales opportunities unlocking multiple product opportunities and professional services opportunities.

  • Skilled at building rapport and understanding business requirements of senior decision makers.

  • Lead generation ability from personal relationships is preferred.

  • Flexibility and ability to adjust on the fly to new demands; strong sense of urgency.

  • Passionate about HR Technology and a proven ability to drive the sales process to closure.

  • Exemplary written, oral, presentation and communication skills.

  • Exceptional work ethic with an ability to manage demanding situations.

  • Strong interpersonal, planning, networking, and organizational skills.

  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience working in a business to business, inside sales environment at the leadership level.

  • Proven track record of working with "new business" sales environment

  • Comfortable presenting and selling into to C suite executives.

  • Bachelor's degree required. MBA preferred.

  • Ability & willingness to travel up to 50%.
