The Auto Club Group (ACG) provides membership, travel, insurance and financial services offerings to approximately 9 million members and customers across 11 states and 2 U.S. territories through the AAA, Meemic and Fremont brands. ACG belongs to the national AAA federation and is the second largest AAA club in North America. 

 Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Learn about the Auto Club Group and assigned business line products and services by receiving training through corporate education and/or on-the-job training.  Assignments are based on business line needs, but should encompass professional level work that may include: gathering information, providing analysis and drawing conclusions and/or developing recommendations, conducting department business/system audits, developing reports, performing mathematical calculations for various transactions, selling and servicing of various ACG/affiliated products, etc. Good performers are eligible to return.

Program Components:

  • Must be available during the entire internship period as determined by department
  • Project-focused, with specific group assignments and time to work together as a team   
  •  Individual assignments to assist Intern in gaining understanding of the day-to-day aspects of working in the department
  • Other program components as determined by department

Additional Items to Post for Travel Intern:

Responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Completing, demonstrating and validating each component of the travel training curriculum and on-the job training assignments and skills as outlined at the beginning of the internship program. 

  • Gaining the necessary knowledge and skills to actively solicit and sell Auto Club Group travel products and services. 

  • Learning to provide professional guidance and counsel to customers regarding their travel requirements including offering ancillary products (hotel, car, insurance, etc.) to enhance the primary travel purchase.

  • Completing sales by making necessary travel arrangements including making reservations, collecting money and processing of documents per travel standards.


    Program Components:


  • Training in Dearborn, MI for one week and in Aurora, IL for two weeks (tentative locations).  The remaining weeks will be spent in Michigan Branch training locations (Flint, Macomb County, Ann Arbor, Lansing, Brighton and Grand Rapids).

  • Transition to a AAA Travel Agent position


    Additional Items to Post for Audit Intern
  • Develops an understanding of ACG’s audit approach, audit tools used, business process, accounting, and control systems, and industry-related GAAP and GAAS issues by completing tasks and projects in areas within the Audit department.  Learns to assess workflows and risks and evaluate business processes and internal control structures.  Performs IT, financial, operational, and/or other audits to test, evaluate, and document work performed and uses internal controls to identify and resolve operational, IT, accounting or reporting issues.  Provides audit-related support to the team, including completing related projects (which could include data analytics) to support audit goals and objectives and attends meetings as necessary.


    Additional Items to Post for Enterprise Risk Management Intern


    Develops an understanding of ACG’s Enterprise Risk Management approach, ERM tools used, and control systems by completing tasks and projects in areas within Enterprise Risk Management.  Assists in the development and maintenance of risk management processes and governance framework, and will participate in various ERM-related meetings. Maintains the repository of ERM performance metrics/documentation.  Prepares materials to facilitate risk discussions (e.g. agendas, minutes, presentation materials and analysis), Participates in assigned projects to support the department’s business goals and objectives

Education:
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA

  • Sophomore and/or Junior (determined by department)

  • Full-time enrollment - Bachelor’s degree program at an accredited college/university

  • Must be enrolled in their college/university career development internship program(s)

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States

    Experience in/with:

  • Providing timely solutions to problems

  • PC software applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.)

  • Multi-tasking and appropriately prioritizing tasks to ensure meeting business line goals

    Knowledge of:

  • Basic math calculations to accurately perform various types of transactions

  • Field of study that aligns with assigned business line

    Ability to:

  • Work from May to August or rotational schedule(s)

    Ability to learn the following:

  • Acquire knowledge of ACG products, services and functions to perform the responsibilities of assigned job

  • Assist internal/external client in response to questions, requests and resolution of problems

  • Review records, system files, reports, etc. to ensure correct information is reflected and/or assigned.

  • Gather data and prepare/track  reports

  • Communicate effectively with others in a work environment and with the public

  • Assist and/or develop reports/presentations/recommendations for management review

  • Rotate within department/field location to cross-train on various business line functions

  • Work independently and on teams

    Skills Needed:

  • Be technically savvy

  • Formulate and interpret ratemaking models using available tools

  • Analyze data, develop material and preparing appropriate communication

  • Manipulate data for actuarial review using standard software packages

  • Analyze competitor’s rate structures and coverage
