Accounts Payable Team Lead

Job Description

.The AP Team Lead position is a critical function within the accounting department and requires excellent time management and organizational skill to ensure that expenses are booked in a timely and accurate manner.ObjectiveTo be responsible for Accounts Payable functions and to support other accounting functions for multiple business locations processed from the Buffalo office.
  • Accounts Payable Roles & Responsibilities
  • Ensure proper approvals for all invoices and purchase requests processed by the team
  • Review and occasionally enter vouchers in JD Edwards/FLEX (accounting software)
  • Investigate and reconcile queries on invoices / accounts as needed
  • Ensure expenses are recorded in proper business unit and account in general ledger
  • Communicate directly with outside vendors and internal managers daily
  • Ensure compliance with sales and use tax requirements for multiple states and various lab locations
  • Direct workflow of Accounts Payable team
  • Create/maintain Accounts Payable policies and procedures
  • Assist manager with other duties according to departmental needs and workload
  • Enter payments in JD Edwards/FLEX - process check and electronic payments
  • Supplier address book maintenance for accounts payable and employees
  • Review and upload employee expense reimbursements
  • Key Performance Indicators & Metrics (Criteria for Performance Evaluation)KPI’s for this role will be determined as part of the annual PMP process, but could include:
  • Accurate posting to general ledger accounts and business units
  • Weekly checks and electronic payments processed on time
  • Monthly expenses entered or accrued on time
  • Timely responses to requests and inquires
  • Accounts payable policies and procedures are up to date, in effect, and well controlled
  • Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Effective team leader with the ability to motivate and engage the team
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Job Requirements

    .Required Skills / Qualifications:
  • 2 year degree in Business or Accounting and 4 years related AP experience
  • Excel knowledge required
  • Preferred Skills / Qualifications:
  • JD Edwards/FLEX Experience
  • International experience (global business model)
