Accounting Intern

Job Description

As an Accounting Intern/Accountant I, you will reconcile and adjust various general ledger accounts and/or bank statements. In addition, you may be asked to perform moderately complex analysis of performance results. You’ll also compile, consolidate, and analyze accounting and finance information for the production of financial statements and reports

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in month-end closing responsibilities including reconciliations of general ledger accounts and posting of journal entries 
  • Prepare month-end reporting packages 
  • Research and resolve any issues identified as a result of the month-end process  
  • Perform analytical review of financial results against the plan/forecast and report the results to management 
  • Analyze data and identify problems or opportunities as a result of the analysis  
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual plan and the weekly/monthly forecasts  
  • Prepare bi-monthly borrowing base reports  
  • Responsible for daily estimate process for the Ingredients business  
  • Serve as a liaison between finance and trading operations 
  • Ensure consistent compliance with internal controls, corporate accounting standards, GAAP and Sarbanes-Oxley  
  • Prepare ad-hoc reporting and participate in special projects on an as-needed basis

Qualifications:

  • Working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting 
  • Experience in commodity trading/merchandising industry a plus 
  • One-plus year experience in a finance-related field preferred 
  • Understanding and ability to utilize appropriate analytical methodologies, tools and systems to enhance analysis 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications 
  • Able to communicate with co-workers, management and company personnel in a courteous, timely and professional manner  
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time 
  • Strong attention to detail
