Assistant Supervisor Internship - Receiving/Warehouse

Job Description

The Assistant Supervisor Internship will begin in June and end in December of 2017.

 

What You’ll Do & Learn

Coordinates and directs the receiving movement, production and shipping of product and gifts so that quality and efficiency are maintained throughout the department. Maintains a clean and safe work environment. Primary responsibilities would be the supervision of warehouse and project planning of warehouse functions working closely with the WMS program. You’ll also be responsible for:

  • Working with Senior Supervisors on the coordination of daily warehouse functions
  • Assisting in training the temporary warehouse employees
  • Analyzing and or developing new warehouse functions
  • Analyzing current operations methods while researching other methods that may deliver increased efficiencies
  • Reviewing and updating all procedures pertaining to the production operations environment
  • Communicating work in progress status to other Supervisors throughout the shift

Job Requirements

What it Takes

Ideally, you’ll be pursuing a degree in Operations Management or related field. In addition, internship applicants must:

  • Be at least Junior or Senior standing, recent graduates may be considered
  • Have a cumulative GPA of 2.80 or higher
  • Possess knowledge of supervisory procedures and concepts
  • Be able to give clear and concise instructions
  • Be able to deal firmly but fairly with a diverse workforce
  • Have experience with Word, Excel, and Access      
  • Be able to work at a fast pace
  • Possesses above average communication skills in both oral and written form
