We are officially in Fall Internship Season! Many students don't pay much attention to Fall Internships but I'm here to tell you to think twice about that. A Fall Internship can be a great experience for you and has certain perks involved. If you have a tough class load this Fall or you are transferring schools (or even just starting college), I do encourage you to take the semester off from interning and get settled.

Again, consider the fall internship - it can provide a great experience.

  • Fall internships tend to be less competitive than summer. There aren't as many candidates applying to the fall internships as there are for summer. Take advantage of this. Apply for companies that didn't accept you for their summer programs. Apply for companies that you might normally feel under qualified for.

  • Fall internships usually have less students participating than during the summer. This can be beneficial in terms of developing lasting relationships with employees, getting more assignments, being able to take even more responsibility, and really being able to shine.

  • Flexibility is usually a part of fall internship programming where as during the summer, employers can be more demanding of your time. Most fall internships require less time commitments than summer opportunities. The majority of fall internships only require 15-20 hours per week. Make sure to be up front with your fall schedule to make sure to manage their expectations properly.
